HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A rising country musician from Texas has died after a reported accidental shooting. The gun was being used as part of a prop for a music video.
Justin Carter had recently signed with Triple Threat Management, who hasn't offered up many details.
"Justin had a potential to, you know, in our eyes, and a lot of people's eyes to be the next Garth Brooks," said Mark Atherton with Triple Threat.
The gun was going to be used as a part of the music video shoot but ended up being the same one that ultimately killed Carter in his apartment.
His friends and family said that most of Carter's time was spent recording. He would spend his time at Enclave Recording Studios off of FM-1960.
"His music was his world," said Carter's mother, Cindy McClellan. "He was always there for everybody."
Triple Threat Management plans on putting out the rest of his music, with the proceeds going to his family.
